    There are 2 sizes of mortar mixing tubs at lowe's. I used the shallow one - it's around 28"x20"x6", I think. It cost $4.50 each. The wood and screws and screen is really cheap. It's the tubs that cost money.

    Yeah, lots of people tell me how they'll chew out of the plastic. But, my rats never even attempted it. It's the same with the mortar mixing tub I'm using now. Not even a scratch on those tubs and I've had them for 2 months.

    It could be that I have tons of wood inside the tanks/tubs. They chew those. For them to chew the plastic lid or the mortar tub, they have to climb up - much harder to do than just to chew on the wood pieces, I think.

    I don't know. I just never had a problem with it. I used those 10gallon tanks for 2 years.
