feeding problem

Well He just eat a Live mouse. looks like I am going to be feeding live for now

sometimes they just need a little more action in their food than we can offer by "shaking" with tongs, ya know? there is no duplicating desperate flailing.

also, no reason to avoid live feedings as long as you watch and have something handy to help you if you need to intervene. i use either a chopstick, or i have the screwdiver bit on my leatherman (always on my belt). just stick it in the mouth, or use to deflect scratching...whatever

just curious but like... when you intervene... arent you afraid of stressing the snake out to where it stops eating? OR the snake striking you cause its pissy? or does the snake pretty much ignore your intrusion because it is so focused on its prey?

I tryed the zomie thing it did not work heated it the head that did not work. Ext. I gress he just likes live food. I woke him up by petting him then I put that mouse in there he was on him like white on rice it was crazy. The guy i got him from is going to sell me some for a 1.00. I am going to get a 10 gallon tank. to keep some in So I dont have to go him ever week. How many can I keep in a 10 gallon. I dont want to be crurl to them. I going to feed and water them ect. while befor the are eating.

in a 10 gal tank you can prolly only get one. if you had a bigger tank you could get a few together. it's a touchy subject. as long as there's plenty of room for them to get away from one another, i don't see a problem. ideally, two hot hides, two cool hides, two water bowls, etc...

I use chopsticks to intervene, never had a snake do anything more but tighten their coil.

a 10g tank can hold a few mice, just add a water dish & feed, you may have to change the water dish frequently

generally if i have to intervene, it's because the snake's strike wasn't to the head or back of the neck. which allows the prey item to defend its self. they're preoccupied with subduing the prey item, don't even realize i'm there. but i'm used to being close to the snake while they feed. i present the prey (once they're of size to allow this) by the tail, and let the snake take it from my hand. this prevents the prey from attacking the snake prior to the strike, especially if i'm feeding in a tub and not in the open.

my bad, i thought the 10 gal was for snakes, not mice. yeah, you can pack mice in there.
