Another Temperature Question

Temperature balance is exactly that a balancing act. There are a ton of variable that effect the temps.

First is the temps need to be taken at the 'ground level. I actually like to take the temps inside the hides myself as that is where the majority of the regulation occurs. It can be very different than the 'ground'

The room temps make a big difference a few degrees can make of break a set up. The next big issue is what is the pad controller and what is the wattage of the pad itself. If your temps are too low then the wattage of the pad is too low for that given room temp. A higher wattage pad will raise the temps but if the room temp goes up so does the pad so you absolutely need a thermostat with higher wattage pads.

Insulating the sides and back can help too. The glass part of the top will help but not as much as it is a tank and has a lot of height. Personally with tanks I use heat cable over pads as it's easier to find the wattage of it. Flexwatt as well can work the cool side temps are easy if you find the low wattage wide size as it does not get over 86º ever and on a glass with a bit of substrate the interior temps are often 79-81 with no regulation at all. (however I ALWAYS use a thermostat with flexwatt!!!!)

There is no easy answer as every set up is different and each presents its own problems the easy fix is room temp just make the whole room warmer and every thing else will go up as well. That will solve the immediate problem then you can take some time to think of other options.
