We have gotten good eggs from a male before he has even turned a year old, we hatched out the male (A Leucistic) out on 8/28/09 he bred her in March, she laid the eggs on 7/9/10 and they hatched on 9/1/10. This year we have had 5 2010 males lock up and one of the females just ovulated from a male that was hatched on 6/12/10. By the way we lift their tails to make sure the 2010's are "doing it". :) So males can produce babies before they even turn a year old, we usually get the males to breed at 6-7 months old. That's just the way we do it. The way we think of it is; if the males want to breed why not let them? :salute:
We also have our share of males that dont produce babies for 3 years. Cough...Champagne...Cough...Cough...:P
Hope this helps
