BP Personalities

All snakes have different personalities. My roommate had a bp that was just plain b***** all the time as an adult. On the other hand, mine is as calm as calm can be except when dealing with other people or unfamiliar scents. For example, after doing the yearly chloroxing and disinfecting, I washed my hands throughly. When i opened her tub and reached in to grab her and hold her, she hissed and curled up. 3 hours later after dirtying my hands up with my scent (cleaning up dirty clothes, etc) I reached in and she acted perfectly fine. They most assuredly recognize the person who handles them most and grow comfortable with them.

When choosing a snake, look for a healthy specimen first before anything else. Then hold the snake and evaluate how it acts (calm, nervous, scared crapless, etc). Choose what you want. Each one will develop new traits of course, but the first handling can tell you alot about an animal's personality. Eventually, you will learn to "read" your snake and then you will truly realize how much you love that little sucker and how rewarding it is to keep a snake as a pet!

    Good Luck!
