I am torn between computer builds.. any computer nerds available for opinion-n-talk?

why not save money by buying the hardware from newegg or other sites and build it yourself ... its a great feeling to look down at a tower and know you designed it... plus u can take the $ u save and put it towards a bp :) both of those pc's are over kill for wow .. so its a win win either way .. same video card .. so i say go with the i7 if your going to buy one of those

but the last doesnt come with a graphics card.. and I don't know if those DIY bundles come with everything that one would need to actually make a computer.. I am kind of leaning towards the second link I posted... thoughts?! It is better specs than what I am getting with my dell computers... and already 400 dollars cheaper lol..
and a ps: I have a 23inch hd monitor and a keyboard, mouse and sound system... so I only need a tower....

ya.. pc companies mark up the hardware then charge you to install it all... if you have no clue how to build 1 i would find someone local who can hook it all up once u get all the parts in.. it will save you a pretty penny going this route ..

between those 2, i7 is a no brainer, 2 cores vs 4 cores hm....

now with that said, all you want to do is play WoW, now i can't say for 100% sure hes playing on epic settings, but I build a exact replica of my computer for a friend ( i don't play WoW so i have no idea)

mines a i-3 3.2ghz, 4gb ddr3 ram, and Gforce 6500, spent less than 550 on everything in the tower. and it runs WoW just fine, Tho im not sure how extreme his graphics settings are.

I run deskspace 3d desktop 24/7 tho with no problem. only real thing I can think of that works out my graphics card. only games I play are diablo 2 and wc3, and I have 6x diablo 2 bots running right now and can play wc3 on full video settings, with the d2 bots running, but all that put together might not even equal WoW lol.

So i guess what im saying is you might be spending too much money for what you want. look into it

It sounds like your old rig was just fine. Whats wrong with it. Did it explode? Sounds like its definitely worth fixing if all it needs is a new HD or a new powersuply. Take all the money you are saving and buy the best new video card that will fit your motherboard.

it was fine enough but I kinda want ddr3... and a new processor... and to get a new graphics card with my old rig I would HAVE to get a new motherboard and power supply anyway... because the mobo is kinda old... >< So i figure I can fix my old rig and use it for my pictures and music or something and get a new rig for just gaming... Ive tried to upgrade my old rig before but the concept of getting a new powersupply is daunting to me >< I mean im almost just gonna buy dell because I dont feel like dealing with all this nonsense :(
and I dont NEED 12 gb of ram... it would be nice to have and brag about... lol and I dont need i7 3.4ghz but its nice to have...

Go to www.acmemicro.com Get a Supermicro motherboard (or a Gigabyte if you're into overclocking,) the i7 CPU, and be happy.

I'm a VAR who builds video editing workstations. I've been using ACME for about 20 builds now, and they are GREAT. I've never had an issue with any of the systems they've built for me. Their pricing is excellent, and they are very customer oriented.

It's a great time to buy computers. You can get workstation performance for desktop prices. Set a budget, and max out your hard drive subsystem speed and your motherboard specs. Graphics cards are a dime a dozen, and RAM is cheap. Fill it up. Don't forget good clean power. Way too many people cheap out on power supplies, and they pay the price down the road.

If you can afford SAS drives, build yourself a little RAID-10 and be happy. Or, build a RAID-10 out of SATA drives, and be pretty darned happy.

I added another set of 4gb (2 X 2gb) RAM chips (the same ones included with the combo deal to make 8gb of ram and the total is 900 bucks (with shipping)
and its better than the dell computer that I had made and it is 300 dollars less than what I had made at dell.
