Life expectancy is about the same as regular beardies. The only difference between the German Giants and a normals is the giants were selectively bred to be bigger.

German giants were a larger sized dragon that breeders used to make their bloodlines healthier and hardier. Now a days they have been mixed into almost all lines of morphs, so its rare to see a 100% pure giant. I have breeder dragons that I purchased that weren't sold to me as German giants but I am 99% sure are giants. I have 1 female hypo that is over 20 inches and ranges between 750-850 grams. I have a couple other just as big... lol

I agree a healthy one for sure... :gj: As far as colors or genetics that's up to you. There are a bunch of different colors and morphs out there, Hypo's, Trans, Leathers, German giants, and even patternless. just be aware that they can lay a lot of eggs and will eat 1000's of feeder's... :gj:

I read somewhere today while looking up some morphs that either hypos or leucistic [sp?] beardies are huge! Bigger than pure German Giants. I'll be going to the reptile shop where we got Isis and her dad [could be the mom, but I'm fairly sure it was the dad...] was a pure german giant citrus from what I understand. I'll see if I can get some pics or something. I'm quite intrigued now that you say a 100% giant is rare...

I didn't take any offense. I don't mind that it's not rare to have a giant, I just like my beardies big. Lol it must be because I'm Texan. :D Though the idea of a 100% giant being rare makes me want to ask more questions to the beardie breeder that works at the reptile shop where we got Isis to see if he is in fact 100% giant or just part giant... From what I understood talking to him when we were still thinking about buying a beardie he was 100% giant.

Lol who doesn't like big dragons...

You might be able to find some 100% German Giants but more than likely it would be from a bigger breeder or someone who has had them for a long time. A lot of the ones around today might be marketed as pure Giants but unless they keep excellent records of lineage its tough to prove.

As the majority of my dragons are large and I do believe that some do have Giant in them I don't sell them as that because I can't prove the lineage, but if you see them you would understand. Especially when you have 8 month old juv's that reach 450 grams easy lol...
