I have heard that if they eat a little of it (and I mean a very small amount) that it won't hurt them. What I do is when I get ready to feed her I put a piece of newspaper in on top of the Cypress that we use and I feed her on that. Works like a charm. About 24 hours later I remove the newspaper (I don't want to distrub her when she is digesting).

Newspaper is fine I personally use a bit of stiff plastic in stead, I'd not use paper towel it can stick to a damp rodent and the snake can end up eating that too. The in or out of the enclosure is a long standing debate there seems to be no clear advantages or disadvantages do what feels right to you. Personally I feed in the enclosure and have never had any problems.

I like uth's myself, I would personally not recommend just a light bulb as a heat source. A UTH with thermostat is how many people set up an enclosure. You are well on your way they are amazing creatures. Congratulations on the successful feeding!
