I tried the hog tying thing, I only have 9 fingers now. I wasn't able to get the tiny ball gag in soon enough.:(

If you feed live properly, it should always be safe. I'm not saying accidents don't happen, because they do, but no serious damage would be done with supervision and prevention of biting. Keep Chinese chopsticks to stick in their mouth if they attempt to bite your snake.

If I were to try anything, I would try tying their mouth shut with the string... but I'm also going to stick with my conventional way. I'm in no way trying to push you out of trying it, but I would watch your fingers... trying to hog tie and bound a rat might be easier said than done.

how am i the only one to say this is just a tad inhumane? lol i know either way it only has a few minutes to live but idk it just seems a little mean to me.. you want the prey to suffer as little as possible.. its part of being a responsible reptile owner

funny idea but the thought of tying an already damned mouse and gagging it just makes me sad lol

i use a method i call "death from above"

you know the critter keepers? the plastic ones with a small plastic opening on top?
i put the mouse or rat inside put the lid on.
put the snake on top and they catch the scent put their heads in,
    and strike from the top.
everytime, not once did the snake not strike, they have bitten the rat/mouse
right behind the ears and wrapped completely around the rodent.

    its really cool to watch!
