    recessive = albinos and Axanthic

not all by no means just a few common ones you might see when looking around. the doms have a 50% chance of showing up when bred to a normal. the codoms have a 50% chance when bred to a normal. codoms also have a 25% chance of producing a super form when bred back to the same morph. recessive when bred to a normal will produce all normal snakes that are 100% het for the morph. a het bred back to the morph will produce 50% visuals and 50% morphs. just do a little more reading and you will find out a bunch.

Ive done a lot of reading in the past week or so but im still fuzzy :( thanks for the simple break down :). But i still dont know what to start with.

Say if i get a pastel female make it do its thing with a mojave male id get something different copies of mom and dad right? but its i do pastel female with normal male i only get normals and pastels right? or just nicer looking normals?

I just dont want end up paying alot of a nice snake to only have to wait to get another of the same or a HET to get it back like ive read with recessive. or is that even true? exaple axanthic i need 2 of those or 1 and a het to egt that pattern back but if i do spiders together i cant make a super spider cause it dies.

I just want a few snake type to start making more and different babies each time and not hit a genetic brick wall starting off.

Also to add to my thing if u do dom x co dom

    like spider x pastel

    U can make bumble bees

If i was u just starting out i wouldnt do to much with the recessive if u look to make back a little on what u spent by producing them.

Also anything u get i would make it a female.. since it takes a lot longer to get them to breeding size.

Well if it was me and i did this a few years back i got 2 real nice strong codom males "Bee & Lessor" and 2 real nice strong codom females "Pinstripe & Butter" i also picked up 8 of the best looking CH bush baby ball pythons out of a lot of about 1000 pick all the best looking reduced patterns with the lightest colors. my ideal was bee x pinstripe = spinner blast didnt hit on it till 2009 =[ and lessor x butter = BEL i didnt hit any all slugs sold the pair to a friend he ended up with the best odds i ever seen 8 eggs 3 butters 2 lessors and 5 BELs he has 2 sets of twins. But enuff of my sad story. If your looking to make something cool to look at ill go for the all white or all black snakes so a pair of mojos or a pair of black pastels.

Ok now that i know what gene type to go with, what should i look out for? so far i want to find a mojave, vanilla, yellow belly, butter, and a pastel, but what is the difference in the pastels? Like there is blacks and oranges but could and orange give you a black?

I am not by any means trying to discourage you from breeding at all. But I see so many ppl want to breed every day so I feel I should say this. Breeding bp's is a HUGE responsibilty, when I forst got into them, that's exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to become a bp breeder, but I've learn so much I've actually been discouraged and will leave it to the big dogs. If and when you decided to breed make sure that if for some reaon no one buys your hatchlings, that you are ready to keep them. Also since you probably wont be breeding this year, and depending on the size of your females, you may or may not breed next year either, take into account the pace at which a lot of these base morph values are decreasing. Just earlier this year I bought a 2010 pastel male for $125, I can get the same snake from the same source now for about $90. Sadly a lot of morphs are losing value. So if I were you, I'd save up money and try and buy maybe 2-3 morph females, and 1 morph male that when combined with those females, make other morphs.

Or you can just stick to recessives and pray you hit something good.

Either way good luck, hopefully the market raises again for all of us. And keep us updated as to what you have decided to breed.

if your just starting out, go all codoms, recessives personally take to long.
if you wanna pop out some wicked jems and get your collection
    up and strong,

load up on pins, mojo's, pastels, enchi, woma, butter/lessers, cinnamons, fires, yellowbellys, spiders.

all these you can find relativley less than 500. and combineing them in different ways you'd get wicked combo's.

some of the 2-gene combo's aren't that much and definately you should get ONLY what you like best.

on a side note, Bee's arent more than 5-700 for a really good quality bumble bee.

    good luck!

I want to breed my own snake not snakes for sale but for personal collection, i have no intent on trying to make money of my snakes i just want to be able to make my morphs and not pay to have them. ive had a lot of people be like oh well dont get into it its expensive and takes a long time. I know what im getting into i know how long they live how unlikely it is for me to sell my snakes or get the morph i want 1st try. I love animals and i have a real big spot for ball pythons and i have the time and cash.

Thanks sookieball for the types im still stuck waiting till april until the hatchling are out at the expo's in abundance. i want babies raise them then make new babies new morphs:D
