I think the odds are the same as long as you have one of the morph and one het! I don't think it matters about the sexes

In My opinion i think building a collection will go better with co-doms producing supers and double codoms.

When produced you can sell/trade to get visual recessives and build up faster rather playing the genetic gamble with het x het.

If you have say 3 female hets and 1 male visual. You have better odds, since the male can breed all the females. If you are working with a 1.1 pair, then it doesnt really matter which is the het or visual.

They are also trying to say to by the female het NOW for cheaper.. use a year to raise her up and raise money for a visual male LATER and raise him, that way they are both ready to go at the same time.... and give you time to save the money. IF you bought a het male now and saved money for a visual female you would either have to buy a older female or wait another 2 years maybe 3 to be able to breed.

But do you still take a chance for a expensive snake like Piebald. I'm interested in Pieds but i don't know if i will have $1000 for one in the future. So would that be a safe gamble or no?

If you are going for pieds and don't think you will be able to put together the money for a visual male then I would recommend getting multiple 100% het pied females. If you breed a 100% het pied male to say 2 or 3 100% het pied females then that makes more sense and you are very likely to get some pieds.

I'm sure you can find a good deal on 1.2 or 1.3 100% het pieds which would be a great project! Just be careful with who you get your hets from or you may end up with lots of normals in a few years!

The odds are the same wether it is a male or female that you get the visual of. If you buy the het females and raise them that gives you time to save for a visual male. That said, Once you get the male you can grow him up and add him into you dom/co-dom projects. And the project grows from there.
Ex:...Ill go with pieds since thats what your shooting for...Get your 2 het pied females and start growing them. Save for a pied male. If you pick up some older females along the way plug him in. Pastel females are fairly cheap now. Next season you can breed the pied x pastel and make pastel het pieds. Start growing them up and the following season your hets should be ready. Now plug him into those two and the project keeps growing...
Hope thats not too confusing for you. Good luck!

The way you build your collection is totally up to what your goals are. If you are shooting for pieds, Buy a bunch of 2010 100% Het girls and in 2 years buy a visual male.
I personally would go the co-dom/dom route. I would buy some 2010 pastel females, mojave females, spider females, then in 2 years get a hatchling combo male maybe a lesser/pastel or lesser/cinny? That would give you a bunch of different combos/morphs to hatch in about 3 years. I wish I did it that way...lol
