    i think it would be extremely difficult to pick up a live rat with hemostats...

    i rarely feed live, we have a couple balls that we acquired as LIVE ONLY but we're working to switch them.

    when i have to pick up our feeders i just grab them by the tail, with a glove. i breed ASF's though, and they are NASTY!!! i'm hoping they're going to settle down once i get them in the dark mortar bins, though.

    but if you're talking live i would pick the rat up by it's tail, put it in a kritter keeper, transport to the snake bin, and take the rat form the kritter keeper and put it in the snakes enclosure.

    another good reason not to feed live? you don't have to worry about any rogue rats that have escaped your grasp and hidden under the rack or something!
