I would say 1000 is in the ball park for that animal. She will be close to ready late this season if she is a good feeder. Could be a quick return for you or you may have to wait till next season. Either way I dont think you can go wrong with adding a big female to the collection. If you get it for 850 that in my opinion is a heck of a deal! Good Luck, its always fun negotiating deals.

No wonder people can't sell animals worth a darn right now. A 1500 gram butter/lesser female if it's breedable or not is worth 1500+ dollars. I remember a year or so ago there was a discussion on this for Pastel females. And at that time the conclusion was the female pastel was worth a dollar a gram. It's sad because that animals people can't even sell of 700 bucks.
If I were to ever let a female lesser go at 1500 gram, and I didn't see 2K from a buyer I would laugh and tell them to get lost.
Offering 850 for a Butter female at 1200 grams is the biggest lowball I have even seen. People are selling SPIDERS for that price. 1200 is a steal so I would jump on it.

Re: Quick how much should i offer him!!
If you feed a rat a week to a female for 3 years, thats 156 rats. Multiply that by the price you pay per rat. Add to that the original purchase price. Factor in the fact that hatchling pastel butters will be worth less in 3 years, so you won't be able to sell them for as much.

Chances are you will get a bigger return on a breeder size female even if she doesn't breed until next year. That is why you seldom see large females for sale, and when you do they generally sell quickly for the asking price.

First ask yourself the question, why is someone selling a near breeding size female butter ??

    Likely answers:

    1) Seller is hard up for cash.
    2) Seller is working a scam.

Make your offer with #1 in mind but don't let your eagerness for a deal make you forget #2.

I have a 1300 gram female lesser proven breeder and I would never her let her go for less then 2k. Also it is probably an 09. I have a few 09's that are between 1100 and 1400 grams.

Yeah, if I was selling a 1200g female butter, I wouldn't take less than $1500. If he's offering her for $1200, that's a good deal assuming she's 100% healthy, etc.

Big co-dom females are wicked valuable. You can't make the supers without the females.
