As was stated before, the reason it's better to use a super [homozygous] pastel is because 100% of the offspring will carry a pastel allele from this parent, as opposed to just 50% from a [heterozygous] pastel. Essentially you are doubling your odds of producing killerbees using a super pastel over a pastel in any pairing that can make killerbees.
