I would like this communities opinion on my bp's tank set up (pics included)

They don't have legs. LOL! Just kidding...

But, you need to take out as much "air space" as you can so that your bp will not feel too "exposed" from above and from the sides. So, yeah, blacking out the sides is a great idea - you can use construction paper or corkboard (also helps with insulation) or one of those aquarium background thingees if you want it to look "pretty".

Here's my 10 gallon set-up for my bp. She stayed here until she hit 800 grams. Then I moved everything out to a 20 gallon long and just swapped out the hides for bigger ones. If you notice the water bowl is big enough for her to completely submerge her body in. The hides are "dome" hides that only have one opening - also for security. It's very dark under there.

Also, notice there is not much "air space" or "leg room". It's all covered up with "clutter". The snake will slither in and out of cramped spaces - that's how they prefer it - so they can feel less "exposed" and more secure.

Also, you might start thinking of investing in a digital thermometer/hygrometer with a probe instead of those dial gauges. I live in Florida too and the humidity can get down to less than 10% in the winter time. You would want a proper hygrometer to monitor that so you can try to raise it up to around the 55% range. There's lots of ideas in these forums to help you with that, just do a search on humidity or something. Also, if you don't have a thermostat yet, you might want to think about getting one as well.

Nice looking snake! Congratulations! It's not too difficult to keep these guys. Just the initial set-up is a bit hairy, but after you get it down pat, it's all just "enjoy, enjoy, enjoy" and not much hard work after that... not like a dog or something, where you have to walk them daily, feed them daily, give them constant attention, etc. etc. etc. Snakes are pretty cool with very few interaction with humans. LOL.

P.S. It seems like you got a 30 gallon "tall" tank. I'm guessing the floor dimensions on that is 30" x 12"? This is the same floor dimensions as a 20 gallon long tank, I believe, which is not designed for fish (it is too short - only 12 inches tall). The height of the tank really doesn't matter as much as the floor space. But, if that's a 30"x12", it should be big enough for the life of your snake, unless she gets to be like a 4000 gram one... then you might have to move her to a 30 gallon long tank which is 36" x 18" floor space. But, that's down the road...

Based on your other thread I would suggest you make sure the top is secure. :D Other wise it looks fine.

hehe I just secured it :D and this is her NEW updated cage... I went out and bought a bunch of stuff cause idk... I just hope its all right... let me knoww what you (and everyone) thinks of her most recent cage :D

by go back any further, do you mean towards the glass that would be where a human is standing looking in? or away from the glass towards the backdrop?
