I have saw that there is a pheromone in the secretions between the skin maybe that is something of a trigger? The article mentioned rainbow boas specifically as a prelude to mating but maybe there is a relationship to other species as well? Just a thought.

I'm willing to just chalk this up to the same reason that in a house full of women, eventually their cycle's will begin to align.
Just one of those weird things in nature that don't really make sense.
