My boyfriend likes Zeus and Louise, it was a mutual decision to get them. He bought the new one for me, but doesn't like him and refuses to hold him because he's quite the jerk. He likes reading on here with me and looking at the different morphs. He likes killerbees the best :)

my girlfriend is afraid of animals and i love all animals lol (except spiders T.T...)
i finally got her to hold my big normal and she only did it for a quick pic and gave him back to me super fast. she'll touch the scales of my spider & pinstripe and say they're cool but she won't hold one lol. she's afraid of my puppy! and when my chihuahua puts her paws up - my gf gets scared lol.

My husband is pretty tolerant of my obsession. When I showed him the new one I wanted (female spider that is now on hold for me)... he looked at me and said " So, we're building you a rack, right? " and rolled his eyes.

He has a burmese python and doesn't think it's fair that he only gets one. But honestly... he doesn't NEED two giant snakes.. yet.

Well my SO didn't want anything to do with my collection till I took him to Tinley, I've had the snakes for 2 and 1/2 years now!!! He bought his first snake, a female mojave, and now he's totally caught up in the addition and looking for his next purchase! If he keeps adding snakes he's going to have to start helping me with cleaning/feeding!!! He used to think I was nuts, but now he understands! :D

Karl doesn't really have an interest in the snakes as much as I do, and he likes to play like he's afraid of them when we meet up with others (he isn't really - btw).

He could take them or leave them (ie, it wouldn't be the end of his world if I suddenly didn't have any anymore, but it also doesn't bother him that I have the collection that I do).

He LOVES going to the reptile shows, but I think it's more of the social aspect of it - because he loves the friends that we've made through this hobby and he's always asking me "when is the next show?"

We're really lucky that in the South East here, we've got a group of us that try to get together a few times a year and he always looks forward to seeing everyone. And we've made some really great lifelong friends in the process.

There are some animals in my collection that he likes more than others (he likes the bright yellow ones - as he puts it). And he likes taking his time going around shows and looking at animals and pulling me to tables to show me something interesting.

So - while it's not his hobby, he doesn't try to influence any of my decisions either. If I want to add an animal, I do. Our money is kept separate, so once all the bills are paid, anything left over is ours to do with what we choose to do.

My girl was only into the cute fuzzy animals out there until I introduced her to the world of reptiles.

NARBC last feb. clinched the deal, and now she has a growing collection herself!

As for the dating scene, I've never dated a guy who liked snakes. My last ex I met on a dating site actually lied to me about liking animals in the first place and told me that the reason why myself and my mom have so many animals.. is because animals don't let you down, like everyone else does. He wanted me to move in with him after 2 months, and get rid of my pets. But when It came to being around his friends he'd brag to them how cool I was for having them, then put me down about it behind the scenes.

Soooo, basically. If ya'll are single.. man is it a pain in the butt to find a decent guy who likes snakes.. that isn't taken, or married! lol

I'm just not lookin' anymore :confuzd:

I actually was seeing my fiance for about 3 months before I mentioned that I have snakes :D. This was a woman that used to throw hot water on garter snakes that made the mistake of wandering on her back deck. Now she's totally supportive of my business/hobby. I make the effort to keep her engaged in it by getting her opinions on what morph I should work with next (she really wants a bumblebee, so I picked up a male spider this year to pair with my lemon pastel girl). She has no problem with holding my albino boa too!

My wife doesn't care too much for snakes, not afraid of them, just doesn't want to handle them at all. My male bp is very calm and easy going, but she still isn't interested in holding him. In fact, she likes my tarantulas more than the snake and loves our Blue Tongued Skink and geckos, go figure.

It's interesting, looks like more gals in this thread are the snake lovers vs. the guys. Cool!
