How do you cut, never done it do i just take a pair of scissors and pinch the egg and cut a piece out of it? So all my other eggs have naturally pipped.

The egg has not fallen in on it self it is still plump*

Pretty much. I don't remove any of the egg shell though. I just cut a V shaped cut in it and lift the flap to see what is going on.

Well I cut the two remain eggs last night, one was definitely dead had no color to way under developed. The second one was moving a little in the egg when I candled it so I cut only a small opening in the egg to help the guy come out. I guess he poked his head out for a few second this morning and he appears to be missing an eye. He went back in the egg and last I heard he has not come back out, but last update was a few hours ago. So this clutch is working out to 5 snakes, 4 appear to be yellow bellies and 1 normal, 1 eyed unknown. 3 dead eggs. The only thing different I did different for this clutch was use I used hatch rite for this clutch and vermiculite for the previous clutch where i had 10 out of 11 eggs hatch no problems.

So what do the experienced breeders do when they get a snake with a defect?

It really depends on whether or not the snake can lead a healthy life. If it's a severe deformity they are generally put down. If it's something like missing eyes or kinks they at least try to get it eating on it's own.

a missing eye is goingt omost llikey be a pet type snake.

as for the one that might be dead cut the egg slowly open more ( I used tweezer siccors( really small like for sowing and I cut a little at the time so Icna lift the shell opening and look for viens to miss them. My pied stayed in her egg almost 4 days longer than her siblings butshe was the first ot eat lol. and she was weird layinin the egg too I see her chin and throat instead of her eyes. for the longest time.
