Brian at BHB is the best breeder! He will answer any questions you have about snakes even if you don't buy anything. He is in Michigan so he would have to ship it to you! Also you may want to look for a local Reptile Expo that you can attend and see the snake you are buying in person! NERD would probaly know of some! I only buy at Expos!

Wow i looked at a few of the breeders mentioned here. Nerd had some high end stuff. I think I only found maybe 2 animals for less than $1k BHB looks real good but lacking pics on a lot of the animals. I'm not sure of my price range yet it will depend on what i can save up until Scarlett goes with m friend.

Trust me, NERD has normal and pastel, etc. All you have to do is ask. They also have a pet store, Zoo Creatures, attached to the breeding facility where most of those animals are sold.

If you go there, schedule a $10 tour of the breeding facility (which is upstairs from the store). You' ll have am experience you won' t soon forget.

:):D:DHey Mav....Sorry you have to give scarlett back ..Doesnt take long before they become part of the familly..Good for you for taking care of her while your friend gets back on his feet..Hope it doesnt affect your familly to much when she goes. Not for nothing but I bought Jazzmin at a Petco in Avon Ma.and she is thriving and healthy.Maybe im lucky that there is a BP veteren who works there that helped me pick her out and has been there to answer my questions and guide me,She is gentle, eats well,,alert, has a beautiful shiny skin, and is loved by all in our familly, maybe i got lucky, but in my opinion its not fair to assume that the animal is going to be substandard just because its sold by petco or any other chain pet store, plus you have had the oppurtunity to have alittle experience under your belt ...I went in green..Budget had alot to do with my purhase.look at her pics on my home page...look like a less than healthy normal BP?....good luck:D

Jazzmin looks good. I'm not saying that all pet store BP are bad snakes. I'm just saying the pet stores are renowned for bad care for there reptiles and overcharging. I would rather avoid possible problems from a poorly cared for snake. If I am at a pet store and they look like they have been well taken care care I will consider it if have no other options.

We got our little guy from a pet store as well and he is doing quite well. Aside from him not wanting to eat frozen thawed for a while when we brought him home and having a bad shed (not terrible but bad to us noobie owners, lol), he is really awesome! As someone mentioned above, we were also able to talk to someone in the pet store that actually breeds snakes himself and is quite knowledgeable. He even offered to come to our home when we couldn't get our little guy to eat. All in all, we had a good experience despite all the reviews I've seen about Petco/Petsmart. However, with that being said, I don't think we'd go back for another just because of those reviews and how nervous they make us, lol. I think that we will look for a local breeder when we are ready to bring a second home :).

Yes, especially if you already have snakes, you want to be careful where you get new snakes from ! Wouldn't want to introduce some parasites or worse, a fatal disease. The chances of this happening are far less when purchasing from a reputable breeder. Its heartbreaking to loose animals you are already attached to, esp. when it was preventable..
