    Re: Question about my ball
I'm a Newbie but I have aluminum foil covering 3\4 of my 40 gallon tank. This helps keep in heat and moisture. I also use a UTH and a heat lamp. I have my heat lamp on a dimmer switch turned about half way. My house is 72 degress, and my temps and humidity are spot on.. It can just be trial and error constant checking things until u get it right..

Thanks guys, I thought I'd jump in because my situation is so similar - I have a UTH and I also use a heat lamp with red light 24/7 because the ambient air just does not get warm enough without the heat lamp. Belly heat on the hot side gets around 90-92, but the belly heat on the cool side... i feel like it doesn't get hot enough without the lamp. It's around 78 or so without. And the ambient air temp would hover around 75 or maybe even lower at night. With the lamp, cool side gets to about 80, hot spot stays around 90. I do have a thermostat to regulate the UTH so that hot spot stays pretty constant, but I got worried because I kept reading on caresheets that 75 or below is unhealthy. You still think I should ditch the heat lamp?
