Re: Does anyone take their BP for car rides?
That reminds me of a little "adventure" I had with my russian ratsnake "Scarlett".
Back then I sometimes took snakes to educational shows or "show and tell" to either schools or wildlife parks.
One day we had a nice show planned at a local park and I decided to take Scarlett and Rhett, my russians...
They were in a tub on the passenger seat. I was cruising along this coastal highway when I reached down to change the channel on the radio. I felt something touch my hand and it startled me and I looked down. Yup, Scarlett was out of her tub and happily "exploring". Now, she was already a big girl (for a ratsnake) and she was determined to have fun. There was nowhere to pull over on that road and I tried to desperately grab her and keep her from disappearing into the dash, etc.
During the struggle she managed to slither around my neck and also the headrest of the seat, getting ever more tangled up. I kept trying to hold on to her and look for a place to stop the car. Finally, after a bridge, there was this parking lot at a local fishing place. I fly into there and push on the brakes. After that I wrestle Scarlett off my neck and headrest and try to keep her from holding on or getting away (she was fast and determined..hehe) FINALLY I get her safely untangled and back into her tub, WHEW.
When I look up I notice I'm parked not far from a pickup truck with 4 guys sitting on the bed. They were just staring at me, basically with their mouth hanging open.
Oops. I waved at them, red headed, and got the heck out of there, LOL.
Nope, loose snakes in the car are definitely a very bad idea, even slow snakes such as Ball Pythons. Its just asking for trouble ;)

LOL my BP's name is scarlett as well. but she just climbed into the car seat behind be and kinda chilled there. i think next time i will pillow case her.
Re: Does anyone take their BP for car rides?
I always use a pillow case as well. Last year we drove to a pet store that is about an hour away and bought a corn snake. It was already 2 years old so it was pretty good size. The guy from the pet store taped the box up and didn't do a very good job. Halfway home we stopped to get gas and i peeked in the box and he wasn't there. Luckily his tail was hanging out under the driver side dash and i pulled him out before he got any further. He would more than likely have died if we didn't find him right away because it was middle of winter here in michigan.
Re: Does anyone take their BP for car rides?
I took my girl for a ride today. I had to get her some more food, so I figured "What the hay!?" The girl I bought her from hadn't seen her in some time so I knew she's appreciate her being able to see the snake she sold me, plus I like her being able to see Kafusu so she knows I'm taking good care of the snake.
When I take her with me, she's either in a pillow case, or she'll wrap around my wrist and just sit there. I know it might sound far fetched, but when the engins on, and shes on my wrist and sometimes fingers, she won't move, but the moment I turn off my car she'll start moving around and exploring. She's such a good girl. XD I think it helps I threaten her with the pillow case. If she's moving when I'm driving, I'll glance at her and tell her to stop or she'll be put in the case. She's stops after that. I know she can't hear me, but she must have some sense of knowing what I'm telling her. Anyways sorry for the little rant thing. ^^
