    I had a female yearling who was a strict mouser go through her 'winter teenage fast', and when she started feeding again, she took hopper rats. You never can tell.

    I swear by scenting with mouse pee, though--the vast majority will take rats rubbed in mouse pee, and after a few feedings like that, they'll take them without scenting.
