I got a clear plastic tub from lowes today it 15.5 gallons so it has a lot of room and the bottom is smooth so I don't think they will be able to chew out of it.

I JUST had my first major chew out tonight. I was cleaning some tubs in a room where I still have a whole bunch of Sterilite grow out tubs. I pick up one of the tubs to dump the shavings and I see a GIANT chew hole in the side. The hole is about two inches wide and six inches long. Unbelievably, none of the rats left the tub.

I'm building another two racks tomorrow LOL. I'm ditching the Sterilite grow outs completely.

40 gallon tanks are on sale at Petco right now for $1 a gallon. That's as cheap as you'll find a tank.

i would never use anything other than a good rack or glass tanks, idc how many people say they work or swear by em or w/e id never use a cut up modified plastic tote. its like asking for them to get loose. plus with virtually the same amount of time, effort, and cost you can build a rack, that will also hold waaaaay more rats than one of those tubs. just my 2 cents
