I think they make up for 3-4 months of heating bills by having 8-9 months of not paying for air conditioning. :P South Texas summers will warm that building juuuust fine!

i know a guy here who keeps his whole store and his back rooms with his personal stuff at one temp for day and a drop for night. i have never seen any of his animals get sick because of this. this is something i plan on doing when i get back home to MA.

While living in the Florida this was my preferred method of keeping my animals. Once I moved to Ohio I heated the building and also used belly heat. My electric bills were 10 fold higher using belly heat then just room heat (room heat was via gas furnace and belly tape was electric). While its less comfortable to work in 90 degrees, the reality is that depending on the total number of animals and square footage of the building it can be much less expense than paying by the foot for heat tape (also much safer, just ask your insurance company what method they would prefer:)
