It's AWESOME! Can I copy the technique?

I have a problem with capturing the "actual" colors. So, I wonder if you put this under a light tent if it would still give that "hovering" effect? Okay, if this is a dumb question, please don't tell my physics teacher.

Absolutely, tinkering with photography is fun, see what you come up with, try different back ground colors and maybe even patterns or scenes :)

I'm not sure on using a light tent, I think it would work?

Real cool. Is the glass flat on the towel, or above it? How thick is the glass?
The glass is about 2 inches above the towel and it's glass from a entertainment center and I'm pretty sure it's tempered.

I'm sure it's been done before, I was toying with glass flat on the towel and thought why not try it higher up and it seems to work awesome I think.

Thanks, that is actually 2 different male black pastels I just hatched, one we will keep to breed back to mom to try to prove out the granite gene, the other isn't staying but he's a hottie.

Took a few more today outside on larger glass but the sun was a bit too low, here they are anyways...
