I've never had any problems with mealworms. People on other forums of the gecko variety say the same thing and state that they cause impaction.
I think they just get a bad rap because of bad husbandry.
Re: Does anyone else's beardie do this?
What I've read/been told is that mealworms are ok for a treat for older beardies, but young/small beardies need more protein than the mealworms can provide. My philosophy, it couldn't hurt to reserve them as a treat just in case.

mealworms have a lot of chitlin (shell) therefore can cause impaction. To me ...better safe than sorry with my baby.
As for hides...ya know....I have seen one that uses it and you should offer some type of get away from the lamp, on the cool side is best. Bob has a 4x2x2 enclosure with 3 levels. On one level is an actual bed that I made for her with a blankey. She loves...let me correct that...demands to be wrapped in the blankey at night and placed on the bed. If I don't do it...she will crawl in bed herself...and she is NOT happy about not having the blankey.
I tell ya...prior to owning one I had NO idea how amazing these lil guys were. I had heard ppl talking about them but in no way thought that way about beardies. I cannot imagine my life without one. They really make themselves another part of the family and provide hour of hilarious entertainment with their antics.
