High Humidity and RIs?

Alright, I'll have to try the paper towels in the morning. How long do you reccommend waiting after he eats to be handled? Ive heard everything from 24 hours to 2 to 3 days to until you cant see it in his belly anymore.

24 hours your fine to pick him up and set him in a holding tub while you re do the tub. Wont hurt anything.

What about actual handling?

depending on size of meal 24-48 hours. If you feed smaller prey items more often your fine after 24 hours. Larger prey will need more time to digest before handling.

Got it, I need to upgrade his meal size so I'll be ok for tonight. I leave for vacation tommorow and I wont be able to see the little guy for 3 days so I thought I'd get him out tonight.

I've never had a snake develop an RI due to high humidity.

Most RIs I have seen occur in the fall and winter, when it's cooler and drier. This leads me to believe that LOW humidity is a factor in RIs...not high humidity. Ball pythons kept in tubs where the humidity is constantly high have thrived.

Change the papers frequently to make sure his substrate stays dry. Excessive moisture (as opposed to humidity) can lead to skin infections.
