    Yep. You can definitely feel them as the get closer to the lay date. You can usually tell if you have slugs as well.

    Here is a recent pic

    depending on how far along she is....if you hold her up and allow her to relax to completely extended her herself down you can actually count how many eggs she has inside her. every wave on the belly you see will be an egg....if you see a large space between the waves it's usually a slug.
