Steve Irwin was great, and I won't ever say anything bad about him.
Honestly though, the picture of the baby sitting with the burmese from your link really got on my nerves. Safe or not, it makes snake keepers look like irresponsible idiots to the general public. If they really had to take that picture they should've done us all a favor and kept it private.
