Re: Can I bring my snake in the park, mall, etc etc where dogs are allowed
Well Trollo, er kiddo, it may well be illegal for you to have your snake in the city you live in. San Francisco, I believe, has a no python rule.
If you need attention, shave your head and tattoo an image of your ass on it, that will get you all kinds of comments and looks and attention, which must be your sole goal, and it will have NO negative effect on all the rest of the reptile keeping world.
So long as you keep your snake at home.

Wow...trollo??? nice...while I personally have no desire to take my snakes to the park, or anywhere else for that matter, I don't see the need for all that...
I suggest the original poster take your advise and just get a tattoo. 'Cause tattoos, like taking a snake to a park, is all about wanting attention...

Why?
Even if legal (and for that you would need to check with your local ordinances)
- Do you realize that people owning snakes already suffer from a bad reputation?
- Do you really want to add to this reputation by subjecting people to your snake?
On the snake level do you found it necessary to subject your snake to stress for no valid reason?

It won't be good for the snake--ball pythons don't exactly enjoy being fully exposed out in the open. It would be the worst day of his life.
Phobic individuals will freak out, and probably write to their senators.
A dog may decide to try to have your snake for lunch. After all, people bring their dogs to areas where dogs are allowed when they feel their dog can handle being around other dogs, and around people. They don't necessarily expect their dog not to chase squirrels, and it would never occur to them to test how their dog handles being confronted with a snake.
Bad idea.

whenever i take my snakes to the park i get alot of positive attention, i swear, people that are scared of snakes & know nothing about them get a chance to learn about them & see that they dont want to hurt humans. they always ask the same question "omg is it venomous???" lol but more than likely you'll be just showing people that the snakes are nice beautiful animals, if you want to take the snake to the park, do it, its ur decision, its ur snake :gj:

That made me laugh. Write to their senators? Because someone had a snake at a park? Really???
I know sometimes people do some flaky things, but come on...that's tinfoil hat territory right there...

That seemed a little uncalled for.
I guess I'm confused then, is he illegally in possession of a python then? Or there is state law mandating you can not be in possession of a python in a public area? If the later, that's just ridiculous.
I am no troll though, and I don't even see how that was a troll response. Last time I checked, trolls didn't contribute monetarily to websites which they trolled.

Might not be likely but not tinfoil hat territory either.
The python ban in Florida (where I live) didn't become law because people thought snakes are cool in parks. We had a good debate going with lots of support from the reptile community but the ban went up anyway - because some people were vocal about banning them and a majority of people didn't care enough to make their opinions known while a very small minority tried to stop it. I will guarantee you that Bill Nelson will run for his Federal Senate seat without even a smidgen of this reptile ban endangering his campaign.
We show off our snakes for educational purposes but we do it through people coming to visit us in our homes or having a show-and-tell at my kids' classroom (pre-arranged with the teacher, etc.) or show-and-tell at the Boy Scout Patrol meeting (to get their reptile badges) or as an exotic exhibit at the church's Halloween Party (Mike Cavanaugh brought a very nice display - like the ones at the reptile expo - with all his awesome snakes, like 40 of them - to my church!).
The thing is - people go there expecting to see snakes so it's good experience all around.
If you notice, snake-phobic people who go to zoos don't mind seeing snakes there. That's because they expect to see them there. Therefore, it is a positive educational experience because their minds are open.
This is not the same as an education from some dude with a python at the park. The curious ones get a good education - they will be the ones who wouldn't have a problem with it in the first place. The phobic ones will just get more phobic and.... vote yes on legislation when it hits the senate floor.
Responsible education. That's the key.

I don't think his post was addressing your post. It was addressing the OP's post.
