I always thought that Aspen was the most popular substrate - I am just getting ready to switch mine from cages to a rack and am switching their substrate to aspen.

    Any concerns with Aspen??

    None at all.
I wouldn't use anything but aspen, cypress if I needed humidity higher, and paper towels.
I prefer paper towels in my rack but I have good humidity so I don't need cypress.

I used to use shredded aspen, but I switched to paper towels after my snake got mites. It's so easy to just replace. It's also cheap and looks good, too.

aspen all day!!!! i use to use shredded aspen that i got from wal-mart, but then i bought a few bulk packs of chipped aspen from a feed store near by and love it even more. extremely cheap, will last me a long time, and it really helps with spot cleaning.
(i check my snakes everyday to see if theres a mess and clean, some people have a routine of just cleaning poo once a week which i find disgusting)

aspen ftw.newspaper and paper towels are horrible for cleaning.repti bark is stained red...boo! coco bark is ok.

if your having trouble with humidity get some sphagnum moss.dampen it with water and throw a tad in the hide.since bps spend alot of there time in hides the ambiant humidity can be lower than wat you think.
