You can buy DNA kits now for dogs where you swipe the inside of their mouth with what looks like a long q-tip and mail it in a special envelope. We did it for our Heinz 57 and the report was very interesting. Kit cost about $49 I think (it was a funny Christmas gift).

I bought one for my dog, and they told me he was a mutt - LOL. They offered a re-test for free, when they added more breeds about a year later... still said he was nothing, so he's either too "watered-down" or a very uncommon breed. Fun idea though, if it works!

You can buy them in some pet shops, like Petco I believe, and vet offices usually have a few versions...

I got mine online at this site: http://www.canineheritage.com/

Oh, but I'm thinking about trying this test instead, when I have a little extra money... http://www.wisdompanel.com/
They test for more breeds than the others, including the one I suspect most (Cattle Dog) - which HeritageDNA still doesn't test for. It's become one of my life's big mysteries, and I just HAVE to solve it! :D

P.S. I think your new puppy could have any/all of the following breeds: Springer Spaniel, Border Collie, Petit Basset Griffon, Beagle, and/or Basset Hound. Super cute!! :)

I don't see cattle dog in her AT ALL.

I see beagle for the ears, basset hound for the body shape, and some kind of spaniel for the color. But, I can't tell if she's got long hair or not. If it's really short, I can see something like a smooth fox terrier in her too.

PBGbees aren't exactly common, so you're not very likely to get that as a result, but it would be neat if you did.
