I see what you are saying and you make a valid point. The OP however, has not tested the hottest point in the enclosure yet. I am simply advising that they measure the hottest point in the cage and reset the thermostat accordingly. If they want to keep the probe there that is their decision. I don't have probes in all my tubs in my rack, I also have a reliable thermostat controlling the heat. I check temps a few times a week with a temp gun.

I want a temp gun so bad lol
Just cuz I do have an anal side to me I feel the temp gun would add to the piece of mind in knowing at all times whats what. I have a Ranco right now, but I would love to get a helix asap. I think it would be so much easier to deal with. Once I get another rack its a must. I was having problems heating my rack because i have a mini one right next to it that has different types of shelves and I had to insulate it to make it perfect. But the on/off function is what made it a dreadful experience for me. I eventually got it after placing the tstat probe in a different spot. Its just annoying because you have to wait and then adjust, wait and then adjust etc. That was when I was wishing I had that proportional technology instead lol
To the OP: If you have another 140 bucks get a helix!!! lol

No but I suspect the substrate already had moisture in it. When I bought it at the pet store during lunch it sat out in my car until I got off work. When brought it home it had condensation all in the bag. Some of this humidity might be due to excess moisture that needs to balance coming from the substrate.
I have a spare tub and lid. I took the spare lid and drilled 6 holes in it and will see how far down it takes my humidity.
My ambient is usually 77 at the lowest and if that is ok then I may not have as much of a problem as I had feared.
Also to note. My accurite probe sits under the substrate, taped down with blue painters tape oriented to dead center of the UTH, mirroring the location of the Thermostat probe that is taped to bottom of my UTH. The probe on the bottom of my tank underneath my UTH is taped with Aluminum tape.

Sounds good. Although if you have some hot glue, that would be preferable over the tape. Snakes have this great talent of getting stuck to everything.
77* ambient should be fine if you have a good hot spot in the low 90's.

Yeah I would also go with the hot glue method as well, or do as I do and just put it right next to the tstat probe on the outside once temps are established. Like I said before tape is really a NO NO with snakes and should be avoided at all costs. But everything else sounds good, good luck.
