given that there is a hot spot of around 90 degrees plus or minus a bit that looks much more than adequate. Ball pythons are extremely easy to care for

    Jessica,

Is your digital thermometer battery operated? I jus bought an Acu-Rite model #00613 and it needs a battery. I am concerned that the battery may explode/catch fire if placed under the basking light. Have you had any problems? Thanks so much for your help. Your snake is beautiful!

I know this wasn't directed toward me, but I have used Acurites for years with Bearded Dragons and had no problem. That being said, I always put the probe under the basking spot and the actual model itself on the cool side, but I have never had a complication.

well, if your basking light was hot enough to explode a battery then it is probably hot enough to cook whatever animal is in the enclosure.

So no. A basking light SHOULD NOT explode a battery...

I think the said up is good. But I prefer lower and longer tanks, BP's aren't much of climbers.

I would cover 3 sides for privacy, get rid of the useless round Frisbees stuck to the glass, place the accurite on the cool end to read that temperature and the probe snakes across to the uth under the hide(assuming you have a UTH) to read that temperature.
    Cute :snake:
