as for the theme, how about super or macro-close-up pics of insects??? It is spring after all, and man them bugs they are a flyin'!

Thanks! That was my old boy Spencer, had to sell him when I moved but that fish would eat anything, which was surprising. And believe it or not I bought that fish from ACE Hardware.

I voted for #1, the discus. I've kept tropical fish for ever. I've got 2 books on discus, but never kept the king of aquarium fish.

I have to admit that I love big fish and there isn't one with more personality than an oscar. IMO

#3. Love oscars and I can't wait to own one for myself.

As an idea for the next contest, how about beach pics. Its almost summertime and people are starting to hit the beaches. Why not have some artistic pics of the beach or beach-related things?

(I only say this because I could not take a macro shot to save my life)

I'm not sure if we can say which picture is ours, but since I'm not going to win I hope it's ok.

That is my Oscar. They make awesome pets, fish wise at least. They are very friendly and actually "care" when you come home, although, I'm sure it's only for food. They are a fun fish to keep because they eat smaller fish, those small comets at the pet store in bulk. I think I might have a problem with liking pets that eat other pets..... I would recommend one, but you can only keep them with other semi aggressive cichlids or by themselves because they will eat everything that fits in their mouth. I had two that lived peacefully together for several years. That one in the picture lived with zebra cichlids and firemouth cichlids. Oh and a large pleco.

    Theme, pictures of food?

Damnit! Wish I heard about this one earlier. I am primarily a fishkeeper, i have tons of tanks of super rare stuff, and hundreds of photos. Oh well.

BTW to the poster above, I'd recomend NOT feeding your oscar comet goldfish... they contain thiaminsae, a compound that breaks down thiamine (vitamin b1) and causes a nutritional deficiency in your fish...

It's ok to identify your pictures...they're not secret. Anyone who wants to know who's is who's, they can check the contest gallery and see the names. The numbers are used in the polls primarily because it's the fastest and easiest way to set them up each month.

Keep giving your suggestions for POTM themes. I'm not commenting on any of them because I don't want to show any signs of favoritism. ;) I'll be accepting ideas until I post the contest winners.
