Sorry. We called her. We actually got it at 5 weeks of age, but she informed us on the phone that if the mother rabbit hasn't eaten the babies by 3 weeks she takes them away from the mother and feeds them pellets.

Either way, it was taken away from the mother at too young of an age, it was sold to us at too young of an age and she broke the law.

I'd still suggest you get hold of the BBB, because even if she makes your situation right, it's still not good to be selling unweaned babies as pets. Good luck, and let us know how things work out.

She's not listed on BBB. We can't find her anywhere except on Repticon's website.

Yeah at 5 weeks old, it's just reptile food. Shouldn't have been sold as a viable pet. If she claims it was sold as a prey item, she might be legal(just like most of us do not buy rats older than 8 weeks old).
However, she should make it right, since selling an animal too young to survive as a pet ensures a dead pet. Hopefully she'll make it right for you.

Your sister should research rabbits and breeds and ages and such, so she can get a rabbit that will fullfill her wishes as pet. Some breeds make better lap pets while others are better to look at(high strung). Dwarf lops are great pets, imo, although all lops are pretty laid back. Some get huge, some stay small. Once she has a better idea of what kinds would be best as a pet, then you could find a pet rabbit that she can love for a long time.

We got a Netherland Dwarf from her and I made it very clear when I brought the rabbit it was a pet. I let my sister pick out the one she wanted as a pet and I brought a month's worth of food at the same time. Who would buy a month's worth of food for prey?

But anyway, she called today. We recorded the conversation. At first she offered us $10 off our next pet rabbit we purchase from her. A little while later she offered to sell us a rabbit of her choosing for $10. We did get her, on tape, admitting that every rabbit she breeds is removed from the mother by the age of 4 weeks and it then goes up for sale.

We told her we'd think about her offer and let her know. I'll let you know what we all decide, whether its taking it up with her and involving the law or just leaving it. I'm just a college student earning less than $150 a week, so for me to spend $35 on a rabbit, $5 on food and another $20 on bedding and stuff for it all to be a waste within a week is a bit of a pisser.
