Day 45 there fully developed.

Some that cut at day 30 do small windows and watch the snake develop. Usually i wait till around 48-50 but when i have a free day i will cut around day 45 as i have today.

The one large egg looks to be a monster 100g baby or twins as i coudlnt see under it. Only time will tell

Have 'we' all developed such tse-tse fly attention spans that 'we' can't just let nature take it's course and happen on it's own?
What's next, installing a plexi window when they are laid?

BTW, they are not 'fully developed' on Day 45 because if they were, they wouldn't stay in their eggs until Day 55-58.

Please keep it to your self. Some of the top breeders you buy from do it earlier than day 45. So till you have the facts zip it

Not all stay in till the 55-58. Some will come out day 50-60 or even day 65.

I cut my recent clutch on this past friday at day 49 and today would have been day 52 but they are already all out and thriving.

IMHO day 52 is about as early as you should cut. I think waiting till the first one pips is better.

Rich, any idea why your eggs look so weird? What do you feed your rats? Just curious, because the clutch before this one had the same strange lumpy mottled look.
So I figure there must be some common factor for both exhibit the same characteristics.:confused:

They just started looking like that in last week. Once they started dimpling they begain looking like that. Nothing i can do as i could care less how eggs look as long as the baby inside is healthy.

Never had one die in the egg or not be healthy,

Also Humidity might play a role in them as well for being like that.

Congrats on the 2nd clutch Rich!!! Hope you get quite a few phantoms this year :gj:

I agree as long as they are healthy who could ask for more.

Yes my rats are my own production i feed. I dont feed live rats at all.

The first clutch earlier is from a female that only eats mice and this one is a rat eater.

I truly think its due to humidity as they stay nice n smooth till last 2 weeks give or take. Once i begin air exchange they begin to look as you see them. At this time adding water would do nothing really as vermiculite is still wet.

Cutting them so early can't really help much as far as the humidity....maybe that is what is causing them to do that.
