If you cannot visit a vet, or have the necessary funds to do so, I'd say by all means either chop the head off, Co2 it or freeze it.

That animal is suffering every second of the rest of its miserable life.

just my 0,02 cents, I would have slammed my door and drove like a madman to a vet, any given vet in my area.

alright i get it, put donw, how do i correctly do it, a freezer, i heard they dont feel cold/hot like we do, so any help

That snake just needs to be euthanized.

I know many people euthanize via freezer, but I would just take it to the vet and have them put it down.

THAT is exactly why you never leave live food unattended with a snake.

Poor thing, it must be suffering so badly. Most vets will euthanize an animal that isn't yours without charging you an arm and a leg.

If you dont have access to the proper gas or injection the only other humane way is cold. Some people will put it directly in the freezer but I would not. A better way is to put it in the fridge until all movement stops. Then the freezer. This prevents the pain from the blood freezing while the snake is still alive. In this way the snakes body will shut down from the cold before it is frozen.

It really is better if you call a vet and ask for a discount to have it put down though. There is no harm in asking.

I would say you should definitely NOT chop his head off or use CO2. Snakes can live a long time without their heads (compared to mammals) and its a terrifying, hellish experience for them. The snake's metabolism is so slow that CO2 (or injected drugs for that matter) would just cause a very long, painful and scary passing. I'd say that a freezer is your best option. That way his brain will go into a dormant state before anything painful starts to happen in his body, it will also make the pain of the wound go away the fastest. (People have said that the ice crystals forming in his cells would be painful, but that just isn't true. A snake would be dead long before any area of its body got to 32 degrees.) I'm so sorry that you had to deal with this. Good luck :-(

Do you know who this guy was? I would report him! Thats animal cruelty? Come on now :/ I wouldn't mind feeding him to some animals

Just out of curiousity, is this scientifically proven? From a biological view, severing ones brain from the body leaves only muscle contractions and no more nerve-ending stimuly. Hence 'no more pain' or at least a realisation of pain.

I am not a major in biology or anything like that, nor is english my main language, but this is just my understanding of that situation.
