    Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to keep an eye on it and if there isn't an improvement by the weekend I will bring him for his first visit to the vet.

    What is not considered hot to you can be enough to burn your animal. The water you shower in is well over 100* and doesn't burn, but temps that high are more then enough to burn your snake.

    I don't think 100F is going to burn a snake, but temperatures over that very well could.

    It looks more like scale rot to me, though, and I see reddening up further than just at the vent. I would consult a vet.
