Re: I need help FAST. Please HELP
Actually have space already set for the hatchlings, just will have to order more heat tape =) But again something I knew I would have time for once I got eggs. But you are right. I should have been prepared but can't change it now.
Re: I need help FAST. Please HELP
Yes, make sure the vermiculite and purlite have no added chemicals or fertilizer, that's no good.
The eggs shouldn't stick to the bin, if they are on newspaper they might but just rip the paper, not a huge deal as long as you don't tear the eggs.
Humidity should be around 100%...but your female will handle that, do not try to add that much with her in there it could harm her. She will be fine, just mist the container a bit and move the water back a bit.
Just relax and let nature deal with it until you can.:)
Re: I need help FAST. Please HELP
Well, I am afraid I have already lost a couple of the eggs. I don't know if they were already bad eggs or I did something wrong. There is kind of a bad smell and a couple of the eggs have some black lines on the sides and bottom (first noticed it last night on the bottom of one shortly after I discovered them). They are all pretty big, but I just took a closer look and 3 of them look funny, at least 2 have black lines down the side. Does that mean those eggs are bad? Will they ruin the other eggs if they are ok now? I guess I will just have to see what happens since I am on my way out of town for 2 days. :/
Re: I need help FAST. Please HELP
Well, not sure if it was something I did wrong or not, but by the time I left to go out of town (the day after she laid), 4 out of the 5 eggs were turning yellow and moldy. 1 still remains. I have it set in my incubator in hatchrite now, and I am hoping. Is there much of a chance I could get this little egg to go full term? I candled it and did see veins, but they seemed weak to me.
Re: I need help FAST. Please HELP
Sounds like it was a bad clutch. You didn't candle them before hand so there is no way of knowing if they started that way or not.
If the single one is in the incubator, all you can do is make sure temps and humidity are correct and hope it makes it.
Good luck.:please:
