Is 90 better to shoot for?

    Nope your temps are fine

    Corns,kings,milks,rats need a 82-85 hot spot and a 72-77 cool side.

When i kept corns i never has a hot spot. I kept the room in the low 80s and that was thier temps. They thrived very well and ate like pigs.

I dont recommend doing a heated room for a few snakes but it could cut costs when you have many.

I'm in the process of renevating a garage in my back yard (that in another life was an actual building)

In a few years I'd like it to be a heated room.

Very nice!! I just bought a striped cali king from the petsmart in my area today too!! :D I am in the process of quitting, but while I was working there I really got attached to the little guy...like you said you "felt bonded with him"...same here. He must be one of the sweetest snakes I've ever handled, and they're so cool looking!! Striped cali kings must always have this kind of effect on us snake people :P

But anyway, your Caesar is very handsome (if it is a boy ;)). And I can attest to the spazzy nature of milksnakes as well...we have a pueblan milk we're trying to sell at petsmart, and that thing is so insane!! Acts like a wild snake every time you pick it up, and it always just stays buried in it's bedding  Ah well, what can you do. I hope he calms down for you. They are beautiful snakes :gj:
