hmm im thinking second uth for coolside connected to a dimmer (which is then connected to a tstat) Do you guys think this is the most economical way? i live in los angeles.. Oh and reason why im avoiding a space heater is due to the lack of a " snake room"
p.s. the snakes will be in tubs

I wouldnt run your heating device through a dimmer(rheo) and a thermostat together. I would run either or. Your T- Stat isnt designed to work properly through a dimmer as power output would fluctuate. T-stat alone would be best. Dimmer would fluctuate with your ambient room temps.

You can run a dimmer between a thermostat to get a different temperature on the second heating device. They just need to be identical. This is helpful for single setups that want two UTHs on different temperatures.

i have a 20 gallon UTH not quite centered but put a little bit towards the left side and a lamp with a regular 100 watt light bulb pointed slightly towards the left and it seems to keep it perfect.
my room temps are 74 degrees pretty consistently
my hotspot - 90-94 cool side - 80-84 humidity - stays around 48-50 ambient humidity and i spray every once in a while under favored hide (i move her and the hide and moisten the substrate and re-even it and replace the hide.

From what i've read stats like Helix and Spyder highly recommend against splicing a power adjuster in between. Which is what a dimmer is. i believe something about Triax failure but not sure.

I think in most cases, people who do this use on/off type thermostats.

i tried a uth on the coolside of a tub... didnt work. still couldnt get my ambient temp above 75 with my thermostats/dimmers off.(no animals in there of course) so im forced to use a tank with lighting to get my ambient temp up. i have a dedicated reptile room but 4 of my geckos cant deal with temps over 80, so heating the room is out. pretty much sucks! wish i could find a way to use the tub. itd be sooo much easier

A second heat source will work fine. I personally would use a herpstat or helix one for each or a multi probe one. It may be possable to run both off the same thermostat with a dimmer between cool side one. I don't know it should work fine but I have never seen it. Kaorte is that what you ment earlier?
ls1goat04 to me it sounds like 2 things that your source is too low wattage, and or the enclosure is very inefficient. Tubs (not in a rack) for all the advantages are very poor at holding heat. Insulating 3 sides (leave an air space around the tub) and or depending on the heat source thermal mass. That is a rock or heavy object that will become warm with the primary heat source and radiate it out to the cool side. Much like a panel.
