I voted "Glass tank with screen lid". It was my fault though. They are the sliding screen lids. The tank has two of them. I forgot to put one of them back on the tank after a routine clean and water change. Thankfully my boa just crawled up and chilled on top of the tank. I now have a sign leaving the room to double check the lids.

I haven't had an escapee from the cage, but last night, she almost got away from me. I was sitting on the couch with her. Before I knew it, she was halfway behind me/through the couch. She had slithered back behind the cushions, gotten under the frame piece, and was just about out of reach of keeping her from getting inside the couch. I don't know what I would have done then...:O

Sure had me mad and scared, too. I didn't think I'd get her out without hurting her. All turned out ok, though.:gj:

it was a glass tank but it was our fault. we had these wimpy locks on that we got when our cal king was a baby. like you know 6 inches 7 inches long and she couldnt reach the top of the tank. welll a year went by and she was about 3 feet long and she popped the corner of the lid open enough to get out.

lost her for about 2 months and found her curled up in a shirt.

now we have tighter stronger locks and no more escapes.:snake:

Slid out a bin at the top of a double-wide rack one morning, and when I went to slide it back in, it stuck. Shoved on it a bit, looked back in there, and there was a big old girl.
Took me a few moments to figure out who she was. lol
Seems I had left a bin at the bottom of the rack open a crack the previous night, somehow, and she'd gotten out and went up into the shelf of the double-wide, between two bins.

    I've had two.

1st was in a glass cage with a screen lid. A curtain fell down and punched a hole in the top, I was lucky to catch the corn in the act of going through it, then quickly pached it up and had no problems since.

2nd time was a baby carpet python out of a free standing tub. It was kinda a crappy lid design but I bought it for its height and he stayed in it for over six months. Lucky he just decided to cosy up to the UTH underneath the tub.

I'm am absolutely anal about shutting lids and tubs up properly. I even have little stopper feet I shove under the corners of my tubs, JUST to make sure no one can squeeze out.

My male really didn't like his 34qt tub and pushed so hard on the top that he actually popped the latch right open. Luckily I was sitting right there on my computer, and heard it. Needless to say, we got him a bigger tub and one that LOCKS.

I just recently had a female escape from a tub with lid that she had lived in for 8 months. Luckily I found her on top of another males tub, so I didn't have to search for her.

My last escape happened during tub cleaning when I allowed our lil black pastel to roam the couch while his tub was getting cleaned.
The phone rang and got me distracted for a couple of minutes till I remembered I was in the middle of....Oh crap, snakes gone....argh....I searched and searched to no avail.
3 days later he was strolling across the linoleum by the front door cold as ice :(
To quarantine he went for 30 days to make sure he didn't get sick in his 3 day venture. Luckily he didn't.
Lesson learned, no answering the phone while snakes are out and put snakes into a tub or snake bag while cleaning their home.

I was away on vacation, and the pet sitter forgot to put the lid back on after changing the water in the water bowl.

Glass tank escape due to human error.

I voted glass tank with screen lid. That is the reason I got my corn snake from it's former owner. Now there is a very heavy rock on the screen.
