I would think if it heats up directly to the wall, then the flexwatt is working.

It seems like your thermostat is at fault here.

I have no experience with these things though. But as in computers, you always rule out what is working and what is not one step at the time.

Is there any other way you could test your thermostat?

After i plugged it into the wall. I switched what power strip i was using and it worked.
