Re: Mites, Eyecaps, Skinny oh my! PLEASE HELP
Try the damp pillowcase for his eyes, it can't hurt as long as he stays warm, and it might help.
DO NOT use Proven a mite directly on the snake, it is for cages only.
Your best bet for feeding is try and find a rodent that is the same width he is. Even if that seems small at first. Better safe than sorry, and even if you are feeding small, once he's eating regularly, he'll still gain weight.

If you just put him in a damp pillowcase, it won't hurt. I said an hour so that he'd have time to move around, and he might be able to get some off himself.

No. On the can it says to remove the snake and water from the enclosure, then spray the substrate. BTW, most people suggest using paper towels as substrate while treating for mites, because it makes it easier to see any mites, and gives them fewer hiding places.

Are you talking about mice or rats? If you mean mice, a hopper is WAY too small of a meal for an adult BP under normal circumstances. Most baby BPs are able to take hopper mice as their first meal.
For this snake, I'd go with something a little less than the girth of the snake, or a little less than 10% of its weight, as long as you trust that it is true that it ate a week ago or so. If you aren't confident about that, then I'd go even a little smaller for the first meal.

Provent a Mite for Mites,
Wet pillow case for 45 mins for the eyecaps
DO NOT USE MINERAL OIL OR ANY OIL. Oils are known for drying out the scales and causing problems

Re: Mites, Eyecaps, Skinny oh my! PLEASE HELP
PAM is the only way to go for mites. :gj: I've tried the other "top-rated" brands, they don't last. Keep using PAM (on the enclosure, never anywhere near the snake or water dish, pesticides can still seriously harm vertebrates) every 30 days for six months after you last spotted the mites. They can be dormant outside of the cage for a very long time.
Eyecaps usually aren't a big problem with ball pythons. If you keep the enclosure sufficiently humid come next shed, you shouldn't have any problems. However, soaks may be beneficial, as he is probably dehydrated.
Start out feeding small and slow. You want to get him back up to a good weight, but don't stress his digestive system. Try going with something a bit over half the size of his widest point every seven days for a month or so, they start bumping up the size and frequency.
