No he just hit and ran. The reason for the big bruise is he hit a blood vein and it bleed under the skin. Really didn't hurt much at all. Just looks pretty.

Don't be afraid, the most always just strike, might tag you but not many will bite and wrap. I had an argentine boa do that once. The only thing to get her off me was listerine.

I remember the marks from that one. That was one scary looking bite you got from her. That is the one that makes my hubby scared of boas!!

Tbh, i can't really imagine having a brb and not handling it on a regular basis; they're so pretty, and since they hide so much, you never see them unless you pull them out. I guess that means that if i ever have one, it'll probably end up being pretty calm. :)

yea i have a baby brb & it strikes sometimes when i try & take him out the tank, once he's in my hands its the nicest snake ever. He strikes every single time after feeding. So this week i fed in the cage

Whats the best way to handle a BRB?

I am curious cause you said you tried to handle him like a ball.

Well, balls generally hide, or strike but not with intention of biting. I went into his cage, which is dark and picked him up. For most all boas it's best to touch them lightly on the head, or somewhere close with something other than your hand. Then go in and pick them up. I startled him.

Ohh I see, What do you touch thyem with aside from your hand? Like a stick? Or a handling rod?
