    This is a common misconception with ball pythons. It actually can stress the animal moving to a new environment to feed then handling immediately afterward to replace it in its original enclosure.

    They will not associate food with anything other than smell. If you smell like rat/mouse/etc then they may strike you. Other than that you shouldn't worry if that is what you've heard. They do just fine with being fed in their enclosure. Most of the members on here feed in the enclosure.
