Intersting looking radiator.
Good luck. I wouldn't know where to start taking that apart!
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
i slid a piece of cardboard in it so that he cant move back any farther and ive been trying to inch him over with rulers but thats not working... i set up a heat lamp on the side hes moving towards but he hasnt moved towards it in a good 30min. Also i have to go to work(im already 30 min late) if i leave him there what are the chances hes gonna get out and go somewhere else.
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
Well I wouldn't really recommend taking the radiator apart. It looks like maybe a Gas/Oil. Do you know what type it is?? Tho def shut the heater off and maybe like the rest said use a F/T or prekilled mouse and see if he will come out. Put box beside the radiator and a heating pad or something to get it warm and hopefully the room will chill and force him to look for something warmer. just keep a eye on him hopefully it wont be to long and he will come out
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
its water so i guess its gas
he eats live and i have to be at work so i cant run out to the pet store thats 20 minutes away.
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
1) Turn the radiator off.
2) Create a hot spot somewhere in the room well away from where his is, and make sure it has a hiding place (a box with a small hole in it overtop of a hot pad)
3) Bait him out with a mouse that he can sense. Make sure the mouse is secure, you don't want mice in your walls.
4) He'll most likely be out a night so you'll have to leave the bait out. Setting this up at night would be good.
5) He should eat the mouse and want to find a nice warm, dark place to digest.
Either all that, or take apart the radiator. I can assure you, you wont be able to force him out of there easily, if at all.
Patience is key.
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
i cant take the radiator apart... its cast iron and wieghs at least 100-200 lbs, and all the water would need to be drained from it. Theres no way to turn it off i turned it down to 50 which is as low it goes but thats gonna take awhile. Will it smell a mouse from roughly a foot away? If so ill have my gf try to coax it out when she gets out of work in an hour.
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
It can smell a mouse as soon as you walk in the door with one. I would put it a little farther than a foot away.
I would put a mouse out under a CHE or red bulb and turn off all the lights in the room and wait quietly.
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
Make sure you're girlfriend stays with the snake so it doesn't wander about and get stuck somewhere else.
Your snake should be able to sense the mouse regardless of where it is. Keep it in the same room though, and make sure that the hot spot is ready for him near by.
Re: i have a bit of a problem and i need help in a timely fashion
the radiator is in the corner of the room with about 1 foot square empty space i put a box on the floor that had a mouse in it and i put a heat lamp above it thats hanging off the radiator... should i move the heat lamp somewhere else so he has to move a ways.
the only reason im not sure about all this is that if he comes out hes going into a corner that isnt very accessible.
