any reason for me to worry that the snake can get the lid open? I have small children and a wife that doesent exactly "like" my hobby lol.
I'm paranoid. I have a very small dog and three very stupid cats. I worry that if any of my snakes got out, either the cats would eat the poor snake or the snake and dog would both die in some kind of strange murder/suicide pact thing.

I presently keep my snakes in tubs with lids, as I am still trying to figure out how best to build my own snake rack. Since I'm paranoid, I keep a lot of large, heavy books and boxes full of heavy things on top of the tubs, to ensure no little escape artists get loose.

And let me be honest, I'm also a cheapskate when it comes to tubs, the lids don't hold too well because they're kinda crappy. ;)

The other day I was half asleep when I checked the snakes, and I forgot EVERY. SINGLE. HEAVY. OBJECT. The snakes were alone for an entire day, with nothing between them and kittyDOOM but a thin plastic tub lid. Not a one of them got loose, not even my BP whom I caught trying to get the lid off when I got home that night.

So long as you get good, secure lids, it shouldn't be an issue. And if you are super paranoid like me, just toss a heavy box on top of the closed tub, heh!

I don't think you have anything to worry about when it comes to that. I think it's more likely that a large determined BP can push her way out of a tub without a lid on a tight fitting rack then a tub with a lockable lid on it.

Once I accidentally forgot to lock one side of my big girls tub. She stayed put for over a day like that... I may be lucky but she didn't even try to get out.
