You're so lucky you have magpies! We have some great birds around here but I always wished we had magpies. Our black birds in the midwest are not all black like yours. We have red winged blackbirds. I guess you can call the grackles a blackbird too but they are just a metallic green nuisance There is a kingfisher near my work thats always sitting on a powerline by a lake. I keep forgetting to bring my camera to try to get a picture of him.
